School of Architecture
Master of Architecture I (First-professional degree) A portfolio must be submitted providing evidence of their interest in architecture or their visual sensibility through the medium of their choice (photography, drawing, essays, videos, etc.) Portfolios can be submitted in any format. Fall entrance only.
Master of Architecture II (Post-professional) A portfolio must be submitted providing evidence of qualification to participate in advanced studies. In exceptional circumstances, licensed architects with extensive professional work experience but without the five-year professional degree may ask for special consideration and review of their portfolio to establish proficiency for admission. Fall entrance only.
Master of Science degree in Architecture and Urban Design / Applicants must present a portfolio providing evidence of being qualified to participate in advanced studies. In exceptional circumstances, licensed architects with extensive professional work experience, but without the five-year professional degree, may ask for special consideration and review of their portfolio to establish proficiency for admission. Fall entrance only.
Master of Science degree in City and Regional Planning / Applicant must submit an extended piece of writing to support their application for advanced studies. The writing sample may be a team paper or report done for work and is not required to be related to planning.
Master of Science degree in Environmental Systems Management / Applicants must submit a writing sample or portfolio, depending upon their specific backgrounds. The writing sample or portfolio should indicate an interest in or awareness of issues to be addressed in this program.
Master of Science degree in Facilities Management / Applicants must submit a writing sample that indicates an interest in and awareness of the issues addressed in the program.
School of Art & Design
Master of Art and Design Education / With a minimum of thirty-six credit hours in the appropriate technical courses in art and the history of art, and a course in child and adolescent psychology, send ten color copies of artwork (may include teaching projects but must include observational drawing and painting); A telephone or personal interview will follow. The GRE is required.
Master of Science in Dance/Movement Therapy / Prerequisites are 12 credits in psychology (to include general, abnormal, theories of personality, and developmental psychology; and course work in anatomy/kinesiology. Students must also have extensive experience in at least two idioms of dance, one of which must be modern dance. Students must have experience in body/mind modalities, such as meditation, yoga, or body therapy. A written synopsis of dance training and experience must be submitted with the application. A personal interview will be required, part of which will include movement.
Master of Fine Arts degree / A portfolio of twelve to fifteen slides is required and should represent extensive preparation in the area in which the applicant wishes to major and include some work in the minor area. Applicants must submit slides. No reviews are done in person. Applicants are encouraged to visit the department, however, by contacting the chair.
Master of Fine Art in Computer Graphics and Interactive Media / Applicants must include a portfolio of 12-15 slides or 8.5" x 11" prints. In addition to the slides or prints, VHS tapes & DVDs may be offered. CD-ROMs may be offered only if their content is viewable on both PC & Macintosh. No other media will be accepted. Work may be either analog (traditional) or digital, or both. A portfolio should represent extensive preparation in the area in which the applicant wishes to major and include some work in the minor area. Fall entrance only unless you are transferring from a similar program.
Master of Industrial Design and Master of Science in Communications and Packaging Design / A portfolio of twelve to fifteen slides is required of all applicants. A portfolio may be reviewed during a personal interview with the department chairperson. Students requesting this option should contact the chair of their department. Master of Interior Design / A portfolio of twelve to fifteen slides is required of all applicants except those applying directly to the Qualifying Program. Please indicate by including a letter. Master of Professional Studies degree (Art Therapy and Creativity Development) / A portfolio of twelve to fifteen slides is required of all applicants. Applicants are contacted for an interview when all credentials have been received. A TOEFL score of 600 is required.
Master of History of Art / Students must have or acquire reading knowledge of French or German. Fall entrance only. The GRE is required. A writing sample is required. You may submit a term paper, report, or other work submitted for a college course.
Master of Professional Studies in Design Management / Applicants must present an undergraduate degree in one of the design disciplines with a minimum of three years professional experience. A TOEFL score of 600 is required of international applications. Applications will be accepted after the general February 1st deadline. Fall entrance only.
Master of Professional Studies in Arts and Cultural Management / Applicants must present an undergraduate degree in the art or design disciplines with at least three years of arts/culture experience. A 3.0 undergraduate cumulative GPA is required. A TOEFL score of 600 is required of international students. Applications will be considered after the February 1st deadline. Fall entrance only.
